Q: Has diabetic medicin (Metformin +pioglitazone+glimipride) Glyciphage side effect on sexual organ.?
Like erectile problems etc.
A: Yes it has.Metformin,Pioglitazone,Glimipride and umpteen number of other drugs even for common ailments like high blood pressure or arthritis or simple pain relievers etc.when taken for long periods cause loss of libido.Doctors weigh the benefits against the risk factors before prescribing a medicine. You are not an isolated case,so have faith in your doctor and continue with the medicine. It is any day better to sacrifice a little bit on this aspect rather than taking the risk of damaging your vital organs and the eyes due to uncontrolled high sugar, and moreover diabetes is a debilitating disorder which itself causes loss of libido irrespective of the fact, which medicine you are taking.
Q: Pioglitazone pills?
If a normal healthy person takes pioglitazone pills just for the effect of channeling visceral fat into subcutaneous fat, would that be risky in regards to increasing risk to that healthy person to develop diabetes?
A: the person wont develop diabetes as such with this, but the pill is known to cause several liver related problems .Also the role of channelisn fat in said way is not a clinically documented one,, so take care doin something without medical advise.
Q: About Pioglitazone?
one of my friends is recently diagnosed to be diabetic. He receives treatment in the form of pioglitazone and glucophage. His blood sugar became controlled in 2 months of treatment. His only complaint is dizziness not accompanied with any other symptom or sign of hypoglycaemia. This complaint is not related to periods of fasting or to meals. What is the best management of this complaint taking into consideration that this patient doesn’t suffer from any other disease after full systematic review.
Many thanks
A: The pioglitazone has sensitized his cells to the insulin and the metformin is limiting the release of glucose from the liver and also helping with the sensitising aspect. The risk of running normal blood glucose levels at all times, is hypoglycemia. Test the blood glucose at times of dizziness and assure yourself of the levels. Hypoglycemic symptoms are not severe in well controlled cases, but when the brain is not receiving enough glucose, you can expect only dizziness.

A: Hello !
Pioglitazone is a good drug to be used in combination with other drugs. Combination drugs are given to make compliance better.
It is not possible to comment on your treatment plan without having additional information.
I can help you if you give me more information. Tell me:
Your age?
Since how long are you having diabetes?
What treatment were you started initially, and now what dugs were you taking and in what dose?
Your weight?
Activity status, and diet?
Pioglitazone is a safe drug and it can cause heart burn, so you should get some drug to control your heart burn, like omeprazole. Talk to your doctor.
I am soon launching a website for diabetic patients, willing to have online consultation. Keep track and can benefit from it.
Regards,
Dr. Zeeshan Chattha.

Q: Can a combination of prescription drugs show a positive result of THC (marijuana) in a drug test?
A friend of mine (who is in prison) said that he recently tested positive for THC (marijuana) in his system. He claims that he hasn’t had anything, and wanted me to check if it could be a combination of the medications he’s taking. I don’t really believe him, but decided to check anyway. Here’s a list of what he is taking. I’m gonna check more on webmd, but wanted to see if anyone knew off-hand. Thanks
(forgive me for any misspellings)
Prilosec
Thlorpheniranle
Opiate (steriod shot)
Acetaminophen
Neurontin
Glypin
Metformin
Hydrochlorathezide (HPCZ)
Pioglitazone
Enalapil
Doxiazosin
Indomethacin
Methocarbimol
Thyroid
Opiate was grouped w/steroid shot because he told me that the Opiate was a steriod shot. He was rushing, so maybe he didn’t know for sure…he’s an older gentleman (age 52).
A: I found a website that shows false-positive Rx drug list.
Q: Why does this happen to those who really want a baby?
Is there any reason besides God’S Will that I cant fall pregnant? My husband and I have been trying for almost 9 months now. Last year October I had an operation because I was bleeding for 5 months. My gynae said I must have ovarian drilling done, together with a D & C , and this will help to stop the bleeding and help me to ovulate and have regular periods.
The operation was a success, was given pioglitazone (made me gain weight) January I went for a check up – I ovulated!!!! on my own and I had normal periods 28 day cycle. Asked him to change my meds cause I couldnt handle the weight gain. he gave me metformin and had terrible side effects but I was still ovulating and period was still 28 days.
Until I had a BFP in March. I was 7 days late, took a hpt and it was negative, went to the doctor and the test was POSITIVE, I couldnt believe it (i was pregnant) My doctor then asked me to do another one test – I did it but then this one that i took 5 mins after my positive came out negative. I was confused but the doctor said that I have to be pregnant and that i should have a blood test
I woke up the next day with AF there. I was sad, confused hurt, angry.
I went through the the entire day with so many emotions waiting for results although AF was getting heavier I jsut wanted to believe that there was a chance. My dreams was shattered when my DH called me and told me the blood test was negative. I felt like a fool, I was so Hurt and cried, why is this happening what game is been played on my life? Other women who dont want children fall pregnant so easy.
Anyone have advise on how to conceive when you have PCOS are overweight, on metformin?
A: my husband and i have been trying for over a year. I also have pcos, and he his mishaped men as well, so double the issue. we are still trying, but i have found that dieting, and losing weight, has regulated me periods! i have dropped 40 lbs, in the last 5 month, and as such i have been having my periods again, yy! which means i am ovulating!!!! which means we can try some more. so my advic e would be to lose a few lbs, because pcos causes weight gain, but it also made worse by weight gain, and high weight. i do atkins, because it is fabulous for controlling the insuline resistance caused by pcos. i belong to a bord that is very very helpfull, search everything atkins forum… somepeople dont think that atkins is healthy, but it is. and i know it is because i am finally ovulating again! and that is motivation enough for me!-the doctor also would not put me on metformin until i lost weight as well, like 100 lbs. i am 40 there, and i am sure when i finish losing, i will be able to get preg without meds. good luck..
I also asked myself, and my husband, and God the same questions. people who get pregnant so easily, who dont even want the baby, and then kill it. its heatbreaking!! and we all know, its because of original sin that these things happen. Keep strong in the faith, and do what is healthy, and God will will be done. I will pray for you.
